Today's Focus: This week's achievements.
Today and tomorrow will be quiet on Dayaway so I can do all the things I have neglected during the week (according to my wife!). But, the following steps were taken this week:
- Double-checked mailing and email addresses for Company Directory entries.
- Mastered (well, I learned more about) Word "mail merge" function to be used to print envelopes for our mailing campaign.
- Prepared letter to be sent to companies (introducing Dayaway and promoting registered members and followers); will have this letter reviewed/critiqued by hiring representatives of public and private companies.
- Made arrangements to speak with a professional "email expert" to get tips on how to improve Dayaway's email techniques.
- Spoke with ACORE representatives about potential of participating at RETECH.
- Started process to have someone(s) monitor job board pages of Company Directory companies.
- Identified several "content building projects" to be undertaken, hopefully, by student organizations; really need to get going on member-generated-content.
- Added 1 new registered student/day without sending any new invitations.
- Will be reaching out to north eastern schools for new student registrations next week, especially looking for business, econ and liberal arts majors to complement our registered STEM members.
So, all in all, it was a good beginning to the new year. I expect to start sending letters and emails to companies next week. Clearly the economy and clean energy job market is weak, but these outreach efforts will, at a minimum, build reusable contacts and network linkage for the future. Sustainability is about investment. Dayaway is about investment.
Thanks to all for the much appreciated feedback. It's great to see our followers simply "throwing an idea on the pile." It's not hard. It really helps.
